Bucks County Dragon Boat Festival Raises Money for Hunger

The second annual Bucks County Dragon Boat Festival was a big event executed by a small sta of volunteers.

Chris Wetzel, vice president of the Bucks County Dragon Boat Association, got the idea for his organization to host its own event after he got hooked on the sport of dragon boat racing and started attending competitions.

Until now, groups staying in the New Hope region didn’t really have an organized opportunity to see the region on two wheels. That is until Tia and Alex Tinsley came along. Tia, a Bucks County native, met her now-husband Alex while living in London. Alex was an avid biker and Tia soon followed suit.

Visit Bucks County Awards $219,000

In May, Visit Bucks County revealed the recipients of the tourism office's Spring 2015 Tourism Grant program; thirty-one nonprofit tourism organizations together will receive $219,000.

The program, implemented seven years ago to help with the development and enhancement of nonprofit tourism, has distributed more than $2.3 million since its inception.

The funding will be used for website redesigns, enhancements, marketing collateral, capital improvements, tourism product development and more.

Visit Bucks County Announces Tourism Awards

In conjunction with National Travel and Tourism Week, yesterday, Visit Bucks County handed out awards during its Travel & Tourism Annual Awards breakfast.

The program honors industry employees and organizations for their accomplishments, service and leadership. The awards included Hospitality Leadership Award, Guest Excellence Award, Community Service Award and the Rising Star Award.
