Portillo's Chicago-style restaurant, which recently opened its first Minnesota location in Woodbury, has announced details on its newest location on Elm Creek Blvd., in Maple Grove. Portillo's currently has 50 locations in seven states.
The new $100 million Edgewood Tahoe Lodge has opened on the south shore of Lake Tahoe after more than two decades of difficulties of strict regulations regarding the environment and four years of reviewing plans and obtaining permits for construction to begin in 2012. The Edgewood Tahoe Lodge's completion was dependent on limiting storm water runoff that is harmful to Lake Tahoe, as well as protecting wetlands, according to the Tahoe Daily Tribune.
From June 8-10, Associated Luxury Hotels International held its 12th Annual Executive Women in Leadership Conference at Hotel del Coronado in San Diego/Coronado California. ALHI is a leading independent Global Sales Organization in the Meetings & Incentive industry, from which they hosted 65 senior level women executives in the meetings and hospitalities industries. These women included hotel executives and meeting professionals.
Allianz Global Assistance released their Allianz Travel Insurance Vacation Confidence Index on July 5, revealing that Americans are estimated to spend more than $100 billion of spending on summer vacations this summer. Allianz defined a vacation as a "leisure trip of at least a week to a place that is 100 miles or more from home." The Vacation Confidence Index measures Americans' confidence in their ability to take a summer vacation, showing that the projected summer spending for this year is $101.1 billion, compared to 2016's $89.9 billion, a 12.5 percent increase from 2016.
The newest location of Portillo's has opened in Woodbury. The opening of the restaurant's 50th location and first Minnesota restaurant was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by founder Dick Portillo, CEO Keith Kinsey, and Woodbury Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens.
Marquee Sports & Entertainment hosted a tour of the American Airlines Conference Center for the media on July 13. The tour showcased the conference center's amenities and customizable event spaces and featured a food sampling following the tour.

Barry created his own brand focused on easy transport, assembly and versatility after being frustrated about not being able to find a booth suitable for his wedding photography work.
Flavored Nation, a new live experience that highlights the most iconic food from each of all 50 states, will be hosted at St. Louis' Dome at America's Center from Oct. 27-29. GateHouse Media, along with Richard Gore, will work together to produce this event for food-lovers across the nation. After conducting extensive research to identify each state's most iconic food, 12,000 attendees will be able to taste the 50 dishes all at one event.
On June 20, Meetings Professionals International revealed the winners of 2017's Recognizing Industry Success and Excellence Awards. The winners of the meeting and events industry were announced at MPI's 2017 World Education Congress in Las Vegas, and were celebrated at the MPI RISE Awards Presentation and Luncheon. The RISE Awards categories are split by community and individual achievement, with the seven awards focusing on innovation, impact and influence in the meetings and events industry, and global transferability.
