We are putting the finishing touches on our winter issue of PA Meetings + Events magazine and one of our cover features is all about casinos. Casino meetings can be a great way to get everyone together under one roof, conduct business and have fun.

We recently learned of some exciting news at Sugar House Casino in Philadelphia and wanted to share it with you in advance of the winter issue. Sugar House Casino is the first and only casino in the city of Philadelphia and they’ve announced an expansion plan!

The construction will occur north of the current facility on North Delaware Avenue and it will double the complex from 106,000 square feet to 250,000 square feet. It will also include an attached seven-story parking garage with direct access to the gaming floor. The expansion also includes space for up to four new waterfront restaurants with additional outdoor dining terraces. A second-story ballroom with riverfront views is planned for a later phase.

Then: The Salvation Army building, built from limestone blocks with stained-glass windows, ornate vaulted beams and hardwood accents in 1924, originally served as a charitable social service institution and was used to provide vital practical services to the poor, marginalized and underserved members of the community.

Corporate leaders have long favored doing business on the golf course. Whether they’re spending a gorgeous day on the links, interacting with prospective clients or just talking shop over 18 holes, it’s a perfect opportunity to spend a few uninterrupted hours with colleagues or clients.
