Fab Floral Trends for Fall

Fall is a great time of year to experiment with different floral designs. Here are our three favorite trends for autumn 2015.
1. Textured Pieces: Unusual elements such as succulents, feathers and staves make floral arrangements more linear and dynamic. Foliage is also an important factor in creating more textured bouquets, while incorporating more stems adds a fun and contemporary flair.

Winter Is in the Air

All planners know the importance of looking ahead—the earlier the details fall into place, the less stress one has to deal with as the event nears.

A smattering of event venues have started holding receptions decorated for holiday parties to give planners an idea of what a holiday event would look like there and to have soirees booked far in advance. We know Christmas in July sounds crazy, but it really is a planner’s dream. With all the heat and sunshine, winter feels light-years away.

Signature Drink - Brazil's Caipirinha

Brazil’s national cocktail is the caipirinha, made with Fogo de Chão’s own cachaça, which is similar to rum but made with sugarcane juice instead of molasses. You can make it in the traditional manner with a silver cachaça or with an aged spirit for a premium version.

—2 oz. Fogo Silver Cachaca
—1 lime sliced into wedges
—1 oz. simple syrup (2 tbsp sugar)
—6 oz. ice

Signature Drink - Symphony No. 11

White Dog Cafe, an iconic restaurant, first opened in Philadelphia’s University City over 30 years ago as a leader in using environmentally sustainable, organic and local foods from farms within 50 miles. Known for warm hospitality and inspiring, award-winning food, White Dog’s historic three brownstones were recently renovated, offering charming and whimsical dog décor and artwork in the many unique dining spaces and outdoor patio. The intimate dining rooms seat from 10 to 55 guests and offer a wonderful option for group dining.

Actions Speak Louder than Words

As members of the meetings and events industry, we’re not exactly newcomers to public speakers. We are not just audience members – we’re hiring managers who book speakers for our events – which makes us discerning customers, to say the least. It’s why I am often surprised when I discover a speaker that exceeds expectations. I attended the PAMPI Monthly Educational at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on March 18 and was blown away by the keynote speaker, Janine Driver.

Tech on the Go

Life in the meetings and events industry means constantly being on the go. Whether it’s dashing to a remote location for a site visit or travelling across states for a conference, planners and suppliers are regularly away from their desks. We’ve rounded up some of the handiest portable technology tools for when you’re away.

Transformations All Year Long

It’s just a few days before the end of the new year, which means that everyone’s asking what my new year will bring. What changes do I plan to implement? Maybe it will be a healthier diet, sticking to a budget or getting to the gym more, but it got me thinking...our industry is all about transformation. Whether it’s changing opinions or simply changing the look and feel of a venue, meeting and event planners reinvent every day of the year. Here’s a recent story from industry vendor Drape Kings that is sure to put a smile to your face…

Signature Drink - Sweet Dreams Martini

One good tradition deserves another. The Palm has been a fixture on the Philadelphia scene for over two decades, so it’s only fitting that this classic steakhouse mixes up a seasonal cocktail designed with holiday classic The Nutcracker in mind. Enjoy a pre- or post- performance cocktail in this elegant and handsome bar tucked inside the landmark Hyatt at The Bellevue on Broad Street.

A Big Thank You to Our Advertisers

I don’t know about you, but I feel like I just packed away my flip flops. Actually, when the weather was really nice last week, I wore them out to do errands and the man behind me at the post office commented that we were expecting snow the next day and I needed better shoes. It just seems that September rounds the corner, the kids go back to school and when you’re finally getting in a routine, BAM – the holidays are here!

Signature Drink - Classic Whiskey Sour

Sure, The Trestle Inn has some serious history—the place has been serving food and drinks for a century—but this hot spot is definitely not gathering any dust. Don your best go-go boots and get ready to dance at this whiskey go-go bar where it’s the free-spirited 60s and 70s all over again. Feeling shy? Just watch the dancers shimmy and shake their way into your heart. Private events are welcomed with open arms.
