At “the Tuscany of the East Coast,” the restaurant at The Millworks, you’ll feel the distinct touch of Harrisburg in everything from the art on the walls to the food on your plate. The restaurant decorates, sources and serves local goods. “In less than three years of operation, we’ve happily purchased over $1 million worth of food and ingredients from local vendors and farmers,” says Matt Sarver, manager.

Enjoy pizza fired in the wood-burning oven built of bricks from an 1800s Perry County farmhouse. Grab a drink from the bar lit by lights that once hung in the famous Broad Street Market just across the street and explore the creations of local artists who work in one of 17 art studios located in the venue. The Artist Commons nearby holds 40 for receptions and showcases the art produced at the venue.

Making your way upstairs, you’ll encounter a fully equipped private event space for up to 40, perfect for dining and other group activities. “As a recent addition to our private event options, we now offer special private brewery and artist workshop packages,” says Sarver.

Three stories up resides a rooftop biergarten. While taking a sip of house-crafted beer, let your eyes wander over the outdoor courtyard area that seats 64 for outdoor dining, and be sure to appreciate the history of the building.

“The building served as home to the Stokes Millworks, a lumber mill, for most of the 1900s,” says Sarver of the historic Millworks building. “The shop went out of business in the 90s and the building was abandoned until we purchased it and began renovations. The existing lumber that was in the building was used throughout the building to create our bar and tables as well as various other features.” 

The annual event raises funds for a food bank in style.

 

The perfect venue choice sets the stage for a successful meeting or event. —1.5 oz. Bulleit Bourbon
—.5 oz. Grand Marnier
—one-half crushed orange
—dash of Sweet Vermouth
—Few dashes of blood orange bitters 

DIRECTIONS
—shake in a Boston Shaker
—strain into classic cocktail glass
—garnish with a lemon twist
