The newest location of SPiN, a pingpong social club chain, opened its doors in Philadelphia in the early fall. Similar in size to SPiN’s other locations (in cities like New York, Chicago and San Francisco), SPiN Philadelphia is 12,000 square feet, with 17 Olympic-size pingpong tables, a full bar and restaurant and a VIP room. The venue is able to accommodate 500-plus guests at one time, making it a major contender for both large or small corporate events. Other locations have hosted a variety of events, including fundraisers, product launch events, and company anniversaries, but corporate team-building and holiday parties are most popular. No matter what event, pingpong can be incorporated in tournament style, party style or in exhibition matches, where groups can arrange for pingpong professionals to join them.

Accompanying SPiN’s love for pingpong is its love for food. Its kitchen has a farm-to-table approach, using sustainable ingredients when possible and providing twists on classic dishes that match the high-energy environment. For planners, there is a customizable catering menu with several packages to choose from. Some of the inventive options SPiN offers are risotto balls and a fitting pong pong platter, which includes housemade pickled vegetables.

SPiN’s unique combination of inventive food, pingpong and its high-energy atmosphere make it an ultimate destination for planners looking for a lively venue.

The Pennsylvania Meetings + Events second annual Best of 2017 readers’ choice awards were held at The Fuge in Warminster on Oct. 4. The event was attended by 85 industry insiders who anxiously awaited the announcement of each category’s winners, selected online by the readers of the magazine. The Fuge, home to the centrifuge where the astronauts trained to adjust to the G-force of the rockets, played up its otherworldly theme with blue-and-white lighting and space-themed accents, including a bar tucked inside the base of the centrifuge.
