I’m on the plane back from Las Vegas after an exciting few days at IMEX and I’m still buzzing from the experience of meeting so many suppliers from around the country and the world. Walking the floor at the Sands Conference Center is a heady experience, with so many different colors, textures and sounds coming at you from so many angles. I scheduled several appointments ahead of time, but I left plenty of time to just wander. It’s how I like to experience things best, seeing what hits me and encourages me to stop and talk for a while.
This fall, Philadelphia is going to look even brighter! The Mural Arts program has just announced its Monument Lab, a citywide public art and history project that will create temporary public art installations in 10 locations across the city. It will last for nine weeks and is co-produced by Mural Arts Philadelphia and curators Paul Farber, Ken Lum and A. Will Brown. The exhibition will take place Sept. 16 through Nov. 19, 2017, and will be featured in the five original William Penn Center City squares as well as five neighborhood parks throughout the City of Philadelphia.
The second annual Bucks County Dragon Boat Festival was a big event executed by a small sta of volunteers.
Chris Wetzel, vice president of the Bucks County Dragon Boat Association, got the idea for his organization to host its own event after he got hooked on the sport of dragon boat racing and started attending competitions.

Paws for a Break
MPI is teaming up with Love Dog Adventures—a Las Vegas animal-assisted therapy program. Designed as a stress-reducing activity, several dogs will be present during Smart Monday for attendees to cuddle with. These puppy sessions are quickly becoming a hot new trend and have been featured in a number of World Education Congresses. Puppy Cuddling is sponsored by Visit Norfolk.
“I learned that, even with the largest security detail in U.S. history, it is possible to make an event happen without a hitch,” Gerald Czaja says of last September’s World Meeting of Families Congress in Philadelphia.
